Memoir: The Glass Castle

For my memoir reading in January, I chose the Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. It is the story of Walls' childhood where she had to care for herself and her siblings. Her mother was crazy and her father was an alcoholic. She tells the story of how her siblings escaped their horrible childhood to grow up and be successful on their own. However, both of Jeannette's parents are still living and in contact with their children. Jeanette lives in New York City with her husband, where her mother is homeless, by choice. Her mom is a free spirit and although Jeanette tries to take her in, she refuses to accept help. After reading 15 pages, I am captivated by Wall's story and I can not wait to read more.
